For those who share joy in Berne's beauty year around,
Berne is getting noticed by the “outside” world. There are a number of wonderful things contributing to the growing attention. The Clock Tower and Muensterberg Plaza have certainly put Berne in a more attractive place. However, Berne is also noted for its beauty and hospitality. Visitors comment on the beautiful flowers planted each year in the urns and the pride seen our community with our display of the American and Berne flags in the downtown area. The Christmas decorations and tree lighting beautifully displayed the cheer of the season. All of these things are made possible through your Swiss Pride Membership in the Chamber.
Swiss Pride is an individual membership exclusively designed for beautification of Berne. The funds are used to upkeep the gateway Berne signs on the edge of town, purchase and installment of flags both American and Berne in the downtown area, the purchase, planting and maintenance of the flowers in the urns, and for the installation and purchase of Christmas decoration which light up the dark winter sky.
Swiss Pride members can have real joy in knowing that they are not only helping us maintain an attractive Swiss community, but may help us improve the visual appeal of Berne. Banners on poles, newer, updated highway signs, improved Christmas decorations on the poles in downtown and along US 27 will come from the Swiss Pride investments.
The Chamber is working closely with the Berne Community Development Corporation as they pursue plans improve the visual appeal of Berne. Any new purchases of flower urns or baskets, Christmas decorations or banners, and signage will be done to ensure a coordinated overall plan.
