Tuesday June 26 at 7 pm THE VOLUNTEERS Army Field Band brought rock 'n roll to Muensterberg Plaza. The 6 person band played to a crowd of 350 people on a warm summer evening. Concert goers young and old enjoyed the popular music sounds. The crowd was toe tapping, knee slapping and children dancing for the entire concert. The band recongnized verterans from all armed forces and concluded with a crowd standing "Proud to be an American". This was another great concert in a line of wonderful activities happening on Muensterberg Plaza and Clock Tower all summer long. The Volunteers is the United States Army's premier touring rock band. Since 1981, this talented group has performed in all fifty states, Puerto Rico, Central America, and Europe. The band performs rock, country, pop, and other current styles in concerts for thousands of Americans annually.
Students nationwide are captivated by these fast-paced, high-energy shows. One young woman captured this excitement in her response: "I love the music they sang, and the fact that they are in the Army- they rock!" Another student wrote, "I was blown away by how amazing [they were]!" A teacher shared, "The kids really loved it, and are still talking about it!"
For outstanding support of the Army's community relations program, the members of the Volunteers have received the Army Community Relations Award of Excellence. Their "foot-stomping, heart-racing music" has also won accolades during performances for Mardi Gras, the Indianapolis 500, Major League Baseball games, and the National Rodeo Finals.
The mission of The United States Army Field Band is to "carry into the grassroots of our country the story of our magnificent Army." In performances across America and throughout the world, the members
of the Volunteers take great pride in reflecting the excellence of all our nation's Soldiers.
